Ken Sharpe’s Gift to the Las Brisas School

Environmental Sustainability

In the summer of 2024, as part of his 280K trek through Costa Rica, ZimWorx partner Ken Sharpe

made a profound impact on a small community in the country’s lush Central Valley. While visiting the

Las Brisas School, Sharpe was moved by the determination and resourcefulness of the students and

staff, who were working tirelessly to provide nutritious meals for the children despite limited

resources.

Inspired by their resilience, Sharpe felt compelled to contribute in a meaningful way. Drawing from

the biblical principle outlined in 1 Corinthians 29:14 – “For everything comes from you, and we have

given you only what comes from your hand” – Sharpe made the selfless decision to donate $500 to

the school.

This generous gift was earmarked for the construction of a much-needed greenhouse on the

school’s grounds. The greenhouse will enable the Las Brisas community to grow their own fresh

produce, empowering them to become more self-sustainable and ensuring the children had access

to healthy, locally-sourced food.
